President's welcome — Winter 2026

Headshot of ¶®É«µÛpresident Ajay Patel

Dear ¶®É«µÛcommunity,

Welcome back to the 2025-2026 school year! Whether you are returning to campus, joining us for the first time, or reconnecting after some time away, I’m pleased to welcome you to another semester at ¶®É«µÛ (VCC).

This year, construction for the Centre for Clean Energy and Automotive Innovation - the catalyst project of our Campus Plan - will start to rise above street level and take shape. This will create innovative learning spaces that prepare students for the fast-changing fields of clean energy and transportation. It represents an important investment in a sustainable future for both ¶®É«µÛand our broader community. As construction continues, you may notice some temporary changes to campus routes and traffic patterns. I want to thank you for your patience and flexibility as we navigate this next stage together.

Many of you would have seen the B.C. Government’s recent , investing $241 million in skilled trades training. This encouraging news combined with ¶®É«µÛdeveloping new programs to meet future labour market needs will ensure that ¶®É«µÛis a leader in supporting the next generation of workers who will be essential to our province’s economic future. Look out for VCC’s new programs coming in 2026, like the Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanic Foundation Certificate, the Wind Turbine Maintenance Technician Certificate, the Clean Energy Technology Diploma, the Automotive Electronics Repair Certificate and the Construction Electrician Foundation Certificate.

As we begin the new semester, I encourage you to take a moment and watch the short video below which highlights some of the resources available to you. Be sure to check out our Welcome Back Resources section and don’t forget to stop by during our Welcome Week held at both campuses.

I wish each of you success as you begin the new semester.
